The condition where the rate of drug administration equals the rate of drug elimination, resulting in a stable average plasma concentration. Steady state is typically reached after 4-5 half-lives of continuous dosing.
Beispiel
If a drug has a 12-hour half-life and is taken twice daily, steady state is reached in about 2-3 days (4-5 × 12 hours).
