Receptor Selectivity

定義

The ability of a drug to preferentially bind to and affect one specific receptor type over others. Higher selectivity generally means fewer side effects because the drug acts more precisely on its intended target.

Tamsulosin selectively targets alpha-1A receptors in the prostate (for BPH) with minimal effect on alpha-1B receptors in blood vessels, reducing the risk of dizziness.
